Let's hope he doesn't start doing things like "modernizing Catholicism," or "breaking traditions."
If he does, then God help us all.

No...Sadly, you won't be seeing any of that... This guy's a real ultra conservative... More people are probably going to leave the chruch now that he's been elected Pope... It was already reported that many Catholic chruches in Europe are nearly empty, and some parishes have had to close and or combine with others just to stay afloat...Some of that is going on in our country as well... I fear that this is the beginning of the end of the Catholic Church...

Hon, I was saying that I hope he IS conservative. oo conservative is a bad thing only because they may be too stringent with church policy and ritualization rather than focus on what is really important.
The thing I fear about a liberal pope is that he may start to "compromise." Compromise is bad, hon. That means that essential dotrine will be changed in favor of being "politically correct."
I know the pope has to be friendly, but at the expense of what counts? I think not.
